The Organised Labour and Federal Government are on collision course over Government failure to to sustain the payment of 35, 000 naira wages award to workers.

Worked in the federal civil service, in an interview with Abuja media Reporters Monday December 12/2023 , noted that the federal government only paid the 35,000 Naira wages award for the month of September ended.

Following the removal of fuel subsidy by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his assumption of office , the federal government agreed to pay 35,000 naira wages award to workers to reduce the hardship caused by subsidy removal.

The government in memo signed by the chairman , National Salaries , wages and Income commission, Ekpo Nta, stated that the payment of wages award would begin to take effect from September, 2023.

However, findings by our Abuja correspondence indicated that the government only paid the wages award for the of September.

A senior civil servant on one of the core ministries departments and Agencies said “the wage award was only paid in September, since then we have not received another one . we are all confused as there has been no official communication from the government as concern matter.

Another civic servant who spoke with our Abuja correspondence on condition of anonymity said, “what you have heard is true , we have not received anything other than the September wages award. As the government continue to let the citizens suffer. He lamented that , “our take home salary cannot even take us home at this time ”

The same fate was confirmed by an Anuja based civic servant of the federal government own school , noting that it’s limited to September paid wage award .

At the Nigerian labour Congress, it’s head of information mr. Benson upah in an interview with news men said” this betrays the government dishonorable intervention and it’s completely unacceptable.

According to me Benson, “of a sure the Congress would do something about it but would depend on the appropriate organs of Congress on communication with the government.
