Imabong William, a middle-aged woman residing in Enugwu-Ukwu, Anambra State, has been hospitalized since August 17.
This unfortunate situation unfolded when her landlady, Amaka Okonkwo, poured a mixture of hot water and pepper on her following a disagreement over rent increment.
Hailing from Akwa Ibom, William has reached out for assistance from Governor Chukwuma Soludo and other individuals to help save her life. The incident has led to Okonkwo’s detention by the police.
In a recent interaction with journalists on Friday, William expressed her distress, revealing that she continues to endure burn pain. Compounding her challenges, the hospital discontinued her medications over a month ago due to the accumulation of substantial medical bills.
She said, “I have been in the hospital for over three months, though I’m healing gradually but I still feel pain. The doctor brought my bill last month and it has accumulated to N650,000.
“I am a trader, I do not have money anywhere to pay the bill which was why the hospital stop giving me any medications and treatment.
“I appeal to Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his wife, Dr Nonye Soludo, the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, and well-meaning individuals to come to my aid.”
