The 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has voiced criticism against President Bola Tinubu for his extensive entourage at the COP28 Climate Change Summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Atiku expressed his concern, asserting that Tinubu had transformed the global summit into a frivolous gathering akin to an ‘Owambe’ celebration with his substantial entourage.
In an official statement released by his spokesperson, Paul Ibe, Atiku argued that Tinubu failed to comprehend the severity of Nigeria’s economic challenges resulting from his unsuccessful economic policies.
Atiku emphasized that the essence of the COP28 summit is to address critical issues such as enhancing lives, ensuring clean air and water, providing healthy food for all, preserving nature, and securing a safe and sustainable future – not turning it into a mere party spectacle.
