The student who stole solar panels was given a three-months jail sentence.

On Friday, December 1, the high Court of Jos sentenced 23-year-old student David Longji to three months in prison for stealing solar panels.

Judge Shawomi Bokkos imposed the sentence after Longji pleaded guilty to theft.

Judge Bokkos, however, gave him the option of paying NOK 20,000 as a fine.

Prosecuting counsel, Inspector Ibrahim Gokwat, said the case was reported to the Anglo Jos police station on October 16 by the plaintiff, Livinus James.

According to the prosecutor, the accused stole solar panels from a company and was caught trying to sell them.

Gokwat said that this crime is against the provisions of the Plateau Penal Code.
