The Kwara State Government has affirmed its commitment to partnering with donor agencies in the quest to eliminate open defecation within the state.
Yunusa Lade, the Commissioner for Water Resources, conveyed this commitment during a visit by Mrs. Theressa Pammer, a Wash Specialist from the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), to his office in Ilorin, the state capital.
Lade disclosed that the state government has allocated N200 million to implement initiatives aimed at discouraging open defecation, including the provision of toilets and other essential facilities.
Highlighting the collaborative aspect, he emphasized the active involvement of lawmakers at both state and federal levels in supporting the state government’s endeavors to eradicate open defecation.
During her visit, Mrs. Theressa Pammer, the UNICEF Wash Specialist based in Kaduna, expressed her organization’s interest in assisting Kwara State in its efforts to eliminate open defecation.
