The Lagos State Police Command apprehended Benjamin Ezeukwe, a 28-year-old individual, on October 19, 2023, in the Rumuolumeni area of Obio/Akpor local government in Rivers State.
This arrest follows an extensive investigation conducted by officers from the Area A Command of the State Command.
Among the items seized from him were a Tecno phone, an iPhone, three SIM cards (including one with the number 08039691980 used in the scam), and a Toyota Avalon identified as proceeds of his illicit activities.
In September 2023, the suspect orchestrated an elaborate online scam by creating a deceptive advertisement purportedly on behalf of Dangote Cement, claiming a substantial price reduction.
Unfortunately, numerous unsuspecting victims fell victim to this scheme, resulting in substantial financial losses running into millions of Naira.
Further investigations have unveiled additional instances where the suspect engaged in similar fraudulent activities. Benjamin Ezeukwe has been formally charged and is currently facing legal proceedings.
