Kogi State Government has ordered the immediate freezing of all state and local government accounts.
All payments to these accounts are prohibited until further notice, according to instructions issued by the commissioner of Finance, Asiwaju Asiru Idris on Thursday, November 22.
A statement accompanying the guide emphasizes the need for strict fiscal discipline and transparency in state governments. “All standing orders and investment instructions are hereby cancelled,” the statement said.
“All Kogi state and local government accounts are suspended from today, Thursday, November 22, 2023.”
This statement supersedes all existing general orders and investment guidelines relating to public funds. This complete suspension is intended to prevent unauthorized withdrawals or transfers.
