Police have arrested a suspect in the killing of businesswoman Juliana Dimaka in Eket, Akwa Ibom State. Dimaka, proprietor of Normal Supermarket, Grace Bill Street, Eket, was strangled to death at his residence at 8:00pm on October 17, 2023.
A reliable source at the Eket Police, who requested anonymity, confirmed the arrest of the suspect to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday, November 23.
Sources said detectives from the Akwa Ibom Command who investigated the crime tracked the suspect to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he fled to evade arrest. According to police sources, the suspect was found hiding in his friend’s apartment in Rivers, Port Harcourt.
“We found the culprit in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, arrested him and brought him to Ikot Akpanbia in Uyo,” the source said.
When contacted, the spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Macdon Odiko, would not confirm or deny the arrest of the suspect. “I won’t confirm anything until I get some information on that. It takes time and I have a lot on my plate right now, but if you have any information, send it to me and I’ll let you know. . Start digging.” said the PPRO.
