The Comptroller of Customs for the Katsina Area Command, Mohammed Umar, has urged sister security agencies to adopt strategic management in their daily operations for sustained success.
Speaking at a seminar organised by the Katsina Area Command of the Nigerian Customs Services in collaboration with the Institute of Strategic Management Nigeria (ISMN) in Katsina State’s capital on Tuesday, Umar highlighted the importance of vision, mission, and core values in achieving organisational objectives.
Umar stressed the need for collaboration with institutions like ISMN to integrate advanced methodologies into security agencies’ operational frameworks.
He said: “I am acutely aware of the pivotal role that strategic management plays in the success and sustainability of any organisation, be it in the public or private sector. Strategic management encompasses the process of analysing our environment, identifying opportunities, and mitigating risks. Therefore, in a constantly changing world, the ability to adapt to new challenges and leverage emerging opportunities is critical.”
Contributing to the discussion, the Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr Nasir Mu’azu Danmusa, representing Katsina State Governor, Malam Umaru Dikko Radda, stressed the urgency of strategic management in addressing global and national challenges.
Danmusa underlined the significance of key performance indicators (KPIs) and SWOT analysis, urging attendees to apply the knowledge acquired at the seminar to drive Nigeria’s progress.
Danmusa also hoped that participants would use insights from the seminar to drive the nation forward in the quest for effective management amidst multifaceted challenges
