A woman believed to be in her 80s died Thursday morning, November 16, when part of a two-story building at 34 Oroto Street, off Freeman Street, off Borno Street, Oyinbo, Lagos Mainland, collapsed.
The incident occurred at about 7:45 a.m.
The Executive Director of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, who confirmed the casualty, said there were no recorded injuries from the unfortunate accident.
According to Oke-Osanyitolu, the agency received the distress call at about 8:30 a.m. and the rescue team arrived at about 8:42 a.m.
The rescue team arrived around 8:42 a.m.,” Oke-Osanyitolu said. Upon gathering further information at the scene, it was determined that the interior hanging beam had collapsed at approximately 7:45 a.m. due to the structure’s age and lack of maintenance.
Unfortunately, an elderly lady died from the impact of the partial collapse”.
