A fire that consumed an IDP camp in Borno claimed two lives and destroyed 1,000 homes.

Barkindo Muhammad, director of the State Emergency Management Agency, confirmed the incident in Maiduguri and said that IDPs, the Civilian Joint Task Force, security agencies, and good Samaritans helped put out the fire.

 

 

Muhammad said they have begun assessing the damage while working to provide immediate humanitarian assistance to the victims.

 

 

He stated that 500 bags of rice, blankets, and other non-food items will be provided immediately to alleviate the suffering of the victims.
