Dino Melaye Defends His Refusal To Vote In Kogi State Guber Election

Dino Melaye, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the Kogi State governorship election, emphasized that his defeat should not be attributed to his choice not to cast a vote during the polls.

Despite his candidacy, Melaye secured a distant third position in the election, as Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged victorious.

Speculations suggest that Melaye’s decision not to vote on Saturday may have adversely affected his electoral prospects.

But Dino argues: “People win elections from prison; whether I vote or not, it is immaterial.”

He said on Monday’s edition of Channels Television’s Politics Today: “The issue of voting or not voting has no legal status. People win elections in prison. Legally, it has no relevance to the election. Whether I voted or not, it is immaterial.”
