Many Travelers Stranded as NLC Seals Abuja Airport

Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) blockaded the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Thursday, November 9, stranding many travelers.

The organized labor union gathered at the airport at about 8:58 a.m. and notified its members working in the aviation sector to stop all flights to Owerri, the Imo State capital. The unions are protesting the attack on NLC President Joe Ajaero in Imo State last week.

Protesting workers blocked the entrances and exits of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

The protesters attempted to enter the airport but were stopped by the military at a checkpoint. As a result of the refusal, the protesters blocked the entrances and exits of the airport, causing heavy traffic jams with vehicles on both sides, forcing travelers to enter the airport on foot.
