Seven-Year-Old Boy Slips Into Well While Fetching Water In Kwara, Dies

A tragic incident has occurred in Kwara State, where a seven-year-old boy, identified as Abdul-Hayi, was discovered lifeless in a domestic well.

The young boy, hailing from the Yaa-Lateef compound on Tinu Street in Akerebiata, Ilorin East Local Government Area, met with this unfortunate fate when he slipped and fell into the well while attempting to fetch water at around 5:30 pm on a Monday.

The Head of the Department of Media and Publicity at the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, officially confirmed this distressing incident on a Tuesday. The authorities were alerted by Mr. Idowu, a concerned resident of the community.

The firemen swiftly responded to the distress call, successfully retrieving the young boy’s lifeless body from the well. They then handed the body over to Mr. Yussuf, a family member of the deceased, for further arrangements.

Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, the State Director of Fire Service, expressed deep sorrow over this heartbreaking incident. He took the opportunity to remind the general public of the importance of exercising caution in their daily activities, particularly when it comes to the safety of children.

Prince Olumuyiwa also emphasized the need to refrain from sending underage children to fetch water from domestic wells, in order to prevent such tragic accidents from happening in the future.
