The national industrial Court sitting in Owerri has issued a fresh interim injunction restraining the Organised Labour Congress (NLC ) from embracking on any kind of strike in imo state untill further notice.
The industrial Court issued this order on Friday , october 3rd by Justice Nelson Ogbuanya after hearing submission from both parties.
The defendant in the suit are the Nigerian labour Congress (NLC) it’s secretary General, comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja., the Trade union Congress (TUC) and it’s secretary General, comrade Nuhu Toro.
The claimant are the Attorney General of Imo state and the imo state government.
In it’s rulling ,the Court held that it is it’s duty to ensure that labour disputes and related disagreements between parties are not allowed to excalate and adversely affect the interest and well-being of citizens and third parties who are not involved in the labour dispute.
The industrial Court further stated that since the matter was already submitted for adjudication in the pending suit before the court, it was necessary for the paties to hold the peace till the next adjourned date.
The Imo state industrial Court warned both parties to be mindful of the consequences of disobeying the extant Court order in the pending suit before the competent court.
According to justice Nelson, the matter has been adjourned till 30th November ,2023 for rulling on the interiocutory injunction filed by the claimants.
