In a letter to House of Representatives, Tinubu requested approval of N2.1trn 2023 budget.

President Bola Tinubu sent a letter to the House of Representatives seeking approval of the N2,176,791,286,033 2023 supplemental budget to address labor wage adjustments, security, and other issues.

 

 

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved the N2.01 trillion 2023 supplementary budget. Speaking after the FEC meeting in Abuja, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, told State House correspondents that the budget is meant to address urgent challenges.

 

 

 

‘The Council considered the second supplementary budget request for 2023. This supplementary budget is intended to fund urgent tasks, including NOK 605 billion for defense and security. This supplemental budget is to fund urgent tasks, including N605 billion for defense and security, to sustain and further accelerate achievements in security, and is the funding needed by the security agencies by the end of the year”.

 

The President also sent the 2024-2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper to the House of Representatives for consideration and approval.
