One person was killed and the other two were kidnapped when the gunman broke into the Ola community in the Iferodun Provincial government area of Kwara Province.
Abductees attacked the town around 2023-10-28 (Sat) 8 pm, sporadically firing at the victims to drive them away.
A senior community leader who does not want his name in print told the daily trust that the gunman kidnapped two women points of sale (POS) operators.
“They also killed another woman and attacked 1 husband of a POS operator who was trying to save her with a cutlass, inflicting some deep cuts on him. He is now fighting for life in the hospital,” he said.
Regarding the incident, Jide Asonibare, TIC chairman of Ifelodun, said he mobilized “more than a hundred vigilantes, local hunters, police and soldiers are combing the forest for rescue.”
“The husband of one of the victims of the attack is in a critical condition in the hospital. But we have not yet heard from our men in the woods,” Asonibare said.
A spokesman for Kwara State Police Command, Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the incident on Sunday.
The command, which works with other security agencies, including vigilantes and hunters, is in a hot search to rescue the victims. We also look forward to arrest the kidnappers,” PPRO said.
