Elections are over. We must Forward ahead - Jonathan Visits President Tinubu

Former President Goodluck Jonathan urged Nigerians to move forward and accept the Supreme Court’s ruling that President Bola Tinubu was elected. Jonathan told state government correspondents this on Friday, October 27, after meeting with President Tinubu,

‘We have talked about moving the country forward. The elections are over. Yes, there are economic challenges, but we still have everything we need to be leaders. These issues are not personal and I will continue my dialogue with the President, including explaining to him all my foreign programs.”

He said the visit, which comes just hours after the Supreme Court’s ruling, gave him an opportunity to congratulate the president on Thursday’s decision. According to Jonathan, as Africa’s most populous country, we need to end tensions and move forward together.

Former President Jonathan called on all political leaders, including former presidents, to put aside resentments and work together in harmony for the benefit of the entire country. President Jonathan also said that his visit was to brief former President Tinubu on the events of his recent outing and the issues affecting the country.

He said, “Traditionally, when a former president goes out of the country for continental, regional, or international purposes, he returns and reports to the president. That is the tradition. Most of the time, I am here because of what we have to do to move Nigeria, ECOWAS, and the African continent forward.
