In the early hours of Tuesday, October 24, Bandits attacked a mosque in Gaalababa village near Sabong Rai, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing a Muslim cleric and two others.
According to reports, the Gunmen attacked the mosque during prayers.
The thieves were returning from Zamfara state through Kamuku forest near Kuriga village when they saw the Muslims performing morning prayers. The gunmen immediately closed the mosque and opened fire on worshippers, killing the chief imam and two others.
The attack took place in Ga Allah Babba in Sabon Layi, a farming community in Birnin Gwari West.
This is an area bordering Kamuku National Park and Kuyebana Forest in Zamfara and Niger states. The imam of the mosque and two other worshipers were killed.
I woke up at 5 am on Tuesday.
Two other worshipers with life threatening injuries are at Djibrin Maigwari General Hospital in Birnin-Gwari.
Bandits attack Birnin-Gwari community almost daily, killing and kidnapping residents, mainly farmers.
The situation on the Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna expressway is even more alarming and has become a nightmare for travelers and other road users,” said Zubair Abdurrauf, a community leader.
