A tragic incident unfolded in Minna, Niger State, as a man known as Mallam Umar Tasiu fell victim to a fatal beating at the hands of his former in-laws.
The harrowing event transpired when Umar Tasiu ventured to visit his two children, who were residing with his ex-wife in her father’s residence.
A source privy to the development said, “He went to see them and his former in-laws who didn’t want him to come to their house tied and flogged him until he died in their house.”
According to the source, the man’s body was returned to his home on Saturday night and buried on Sunday morning at around 10 a.m.
The State Police spokesman, DSP Wasiu Abiodun said the victim passed away after being transported to the IBB Specialist Hospital in Minna as a result of injuries he had received from being beaten by thugs.
He said, “On 22nd October 2023, at about 0800hrs a case of suspected culpable homicide was reported at the GRA Division, that on 21st October 2023, at about 2300hrs, one Umar Tasiu of Angwan Daji was attacked by hoodlums in Minna and he was inflicted with severe injuries.”
He said the victim was rushed to the IBB Hospital, Minna, where he gave up the ghost, adding that the case is under investigation and effort is ongoing to arrest the suspects.
