Ugochukwu Sunday, a man whose identity was succinctly stated, has been sentenced to a two-year prison term.
His conviction stems from the act of breaking into a business establishment and making off with items, including a water dispenser, with a total value of N960,000.
This verdict was handed down by the Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State, following the 47-year-old defendant’s admission of guilt to charges encompassing theft, damage, and burglary.
Mr. O. O. Okiki, the presiding magistrate, decreed that the defendant, Sunday, would serve his sentence in prison, and no alternative of paying a fine was offered.
Earlier, Insp. E. O. Adaraloye, the prosecutor, informed the court that the prisoner had committed the offences at Ota on October 17 at 5:30 a.m.
He added by saying that during his attempt to break into the business, the prisoner purposefully damaged the ceiling.
Sections 390(9), 414, and 451 of the Criminal Code, Law of Ogun, 2006, he claimed, were violated by the offenses.
