Sanwo-Olu, Other South-West Govs Visit Akeredolu In Ibadan

Governors from the southwestern region convened on Tuesday for a visit to their counterpart, Rotimi Akeredolu, in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

Among those in attendance were prominent figures like Babajide Sanwo-Olu from Lagos, Seyi Makinde from Oyo, Biodun Oyebanji from Ekiti, and Dapo Abiodun from Ogun.

Notably absent from the gathering was Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke. At the time of the visit, Adeleke was attending a campaign launch event in Kogi, supporting the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate, Dino Melaye.

Akeredolu, who serves as the chairman of the Southwest Governors’ Forum, shared images of their meeting on social media, expressing his gratitude for their support and emphasizing the importance of ongoing collaboration among the southwestern states.

Akeredolu wrote in his post, “Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde said the Forum is praying for Governor Akeredolu, adding that he has the support of all the Governors in the region.

“The Governors discussed National and other Issues affecting the region and the people.”

Since Akeredolu returned from his medical vacation abroad in September, he has been working from Ibadan, a development which has raised eyebrows.

Last Tuesday, Akeredolu’s special adviser on special duty and strategy Doyin Odebowale said on Channels Television’s Politics Today that the governor’s state of health demands a better apartment to carry out his task.

“Aketi came back in September. Where he used to stay – the Presidential Lodge built for the visiting president at that time Olusegun Obasanjo – is a two-bedroom apartment,” he said.

“Now, he is back. He cannot occupy that place again. The Old Governor’s Office – the Governor’s Lodge built by the previous administration is now the office of the investment outlet called the ODIPA. That’s the office.

“So, the governor has been managing a two-bedroom apartment for six years. But his current state of health would not permit him to pretend that all is well. He would need all the things for him to recover properly. That’s why the new place that is being arranged for him is almost completed.”
