The Adamawa State Police Command has successfully apprehended a group of six individuals on suspicion of kidnapping.
These six individuals stand accused of abducting a 9-year-old boy named Mustapha Ibrahim and subsequently demanding a ransom of N5 million for his release.
This distressing incident unfolded within the boundaries of Mubi-South Local Government Area.
The suspects in this case, identified as Abubakar Mohammed, Auwal Usman, Mohammed Abubakar, Umar Mohammed, Abdulhameed Musa, and Muhammad Nasir, are known to be residents of Maiha Road and Kaba Ward, hailing from both the Mubi-South and Mubi North local government areas.
A statement released Monday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the suspects were arrested following a complaint received from the father of the victim last Thursday, October 19.
According to the statement, the boy was abducted by the suspects who went to the house around 1800hrs with pretence of buying Zobo juice and thereby lured the boy out and took him away.
“The state Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, While expressing happiness, Commended DPO Mubi South and his men for rescuing an innocent child and denying the criminals the opportunity of escaping arrest,” the Police stated, adding that the CP had assured of diligent prosecution of the suspects.
