Controversial Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has stated that he has no intention of responding to those who have called for his arrest due to his recent comments concerning Christian believers.
In a sermon, Gumi referred to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, as a “satanic person.” He also claimed that there might be adverse consequences if the FCT and Israel were to collaborate, suggesting that Muslims could face victimization in such a scenario.
Furthermore, Gumi emphasized the potential risks of entrusting Nigeria’s national security to Christians and Southerners.
His remarks ignited a firestorm of controversy, leading to various groups and individuals demanding his immediate arrest, alleging that he had tarnished the reputation of Nigerian Christians.
According to Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Gumi should be arrested over his comment, describing the cleric as a “well-known associate of bandits”.
However, when reached by newsmen on his opinion over the calls for his arrest, Gumi simply said, “I should not have reply for idiots in a democracy”.
