The National Petroleum Corporation of Nigeria has confirmed that a fire has broken out at the Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Plant.
According to a statement issued by the National Oil Company on Friday, October 20, the extinguished fire will not affect the restoration of the refinery.
The statement read:
“A small fire broke out today in the cooling tower of the Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited at about 15.02.
“The fire that occurred during the welding work at the top of the cooling tower is not expected to affect the delivery schedule for the refinery rehabilitation project.
“NNPC Limited security personnel at the refinery swung into action immediately and extinguished the fire at about 3.30 p.m. Normality was restored after that,” the statement said.
