A man hit his wife with a cutlass over suspected sexual assault.        

A man named Kehinde Olanipekun has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting his wife Damilola with a machete.

 

It emerged that Damilola accused her husband of molesting her 14-year-old daughter who was married to another man before her marriage.

The following day, Olanipekun attacked his wife with a machete in their house in Idasen, Owo Local Government Area of ​​Ondo State, then fled the scene.

 

 

 

 

 

Damilola was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo by her neighbors but was later admitted to another hospital due to injuries sustained by her husband who fled.

Sharing her grief, Damilala spoke to Punch.

 

 

 

 

 

“My daughter (Olanipekun’s step daughter) said her husband sexually assaulted her when I was not at home.

So as soon as I got home I was worried. So I had to ask him the next day and he didn’t deny it, he apologized.

 

 

 

“On that fateful day, he went to work.

But in an hour he came, locked the door, and brought the mace into the room.

When I asked why, he said he wanted to work there. Without any argument, he then started hitting me with the stick.

“He hit me in the head and face, then he took out a big knife and started hitting all the other parts of my body.

I fell and couldn’t defend myself.

My neighbors heard my screams and knocked on the door to save me, but the door was locked behind me.

 

 

 

 

“After some time he ran away, I opened the door and my neighbors finally rescued me.

I was rushed to the hospital.”

 

 

 

 

 

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, who confirmed the incident, said the suspect was still on the run and had not been arrested.

 

 

 

 

 

Odunlami said.

 

 

 

 

 

 

“We have launched a search for the suspect and an investigation into the incident has begun.”
