Gov Sule didn’t order arrest of people who chanted ‘two months to go’ – Akwe

Governor Abdullahi Sule has denied ordering the arrest of two people who chanted “two months to go” at him at the Kini Country Home in Akwanga.

A Facebook user had alleged that two staff of Kini Country Home shouted “two months to go” while the governor was exiting the gate of Kini Country Home on Wednesday and have been arrested on the governor’s orders.

“I heard from my left ear that the outgoing Governor of Nasarawa State ordered the arrest of two staff of Kini Country Home Akwanga for shouting “2 months to go” while Engr. Sule was exiting the Kini Country Home gate yesterday afternoon. This is a blatant disregard for freedom of speech and association by the outgoing governor.

“It’s in this Nasarawa State that the former Governor Abdullahi Adamu was poured soup and stoned a rotten egg in Lafia, the capital city, yet he didn’t order the arrest of anyone.

“It’s in this Nasarawa State that Tanko Al-Makura was booed and stoned in the Ekye Development Area when he was looking for a second term; he didn’t place an arrest on anyone.

“If this action by the outgoing Governor is true, then he has yet again shown his antidemocratic behaviour to the whole world. It’s better he imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship and accept defeat and bow.” The Facebook statement reads.

Reacting, Governor Sule, through his Personal Assistant on Media, Emmanuel Innocent Akwe, denied the accusation, insisting that it is just propaganda by the opposition.

He told DAILY POST that the law permits freedom of speech and that anyone can say what he or she likes as long as they did not speak ill of others.

“The governor didn’t order the arrest of anybody; it is just propaganda by the opposition.

“The law permits freedom of speech. Everyone can say what they want, but not to speak ill of someone else,” he said.

Akwe urged the people of Nasarawa not to worry about all the distractions emanating from the opposition, insisting that the governor will never be distracted.

He said the governor would collect all the stones hauled at him by his enemies and use them to construct solid structures in the state
