On Monday, a group of young individuals staged a protest at the Ondo State Governor’s absence from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) state secretariat in Akure, the state’s capital.
The gathering of protesters prompted the Department of State Services (DSS) and the police to stand ready in case of any issues.
The protest unfolded within the confines of the PDP secretariat, where it was cordoned off by security personnel.
Kennedy Peretei, the Publicity Secretary of Ondo State’s PDP, accused security forces of preventing other young people from joining the demonstration within the secretariat’s premises.
Akeredolu returned to Nigeria in September months after being away on medical leave.
Since his return, he is yet to resume his duties as governor fully.
There have also been moves by the Ondo State House of Assembly to impeach his deputy Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
But a Federal High Court in Abuja on September 26 ordered the assembly to halt impeachment proceedings against Aiyedatiwa.
