Three fraudsters were detained by police While holding a female victim hostage in Idumota

In Idumota, Lagos, while they were holding an uncooperative victim hostage, members of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) detained three fraudsters.

 

 

 

 

 

 

In a statement released by RRS on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, the organization claimed that the victim, a 23-year-old woman (name withheld) who was traveling from Gerard Road Ikoyi to Iyana Oworo, boarded the suspects’ Volkswagen Vento salon car with the license plate BDG 513 EJ but was compelled to be driven to Idumota.

 

 

 

 

In an effort to defraud their victim, the three suspects—ringleader Austin Okoro, age 47; Godwin Asezour, age 54; and Susan Elohor, age 42—attempted to introduce her to their purported money-doubling business while on the diversion, according to the statement.

 

 

 

“However, the victim spotted an RRS patrol team at Idumota and successfully raised the alarm to their ears, which resulted in the prompt arrest of the suspects.

 

 

 

“The suspects were later charged in court after the CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi-led RRS finished its
