Kabir Yusuf Nadabo, the sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna State Command, has revealed that state politicians have been intimidating some of the agency’s officials on a regular basis.
Nadabo questioned why a local government chairman would be instructing agency officials on where to patrol during a media discussion at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat, Kaduna State Council, over the weekend.
He stated;.
I can’t take it anymore when some people intimidate me while I’m sitting down. Imagine if the head of the local government instructed my patrol team to stop using the township roads as a route for patrol and to stick to the highway instead. This demonstrates how far they are willing to go.
I’ll say it again: nobody will intimidate me because I’m here to serve the people of Kaduna State. If you tell the FRSC to stay off the township roads, what if an accident occurs? Who would you call to help the victims?
Although I have no control over the state traffic agency, we must cooperate for the benefit of the public.
“.
The state traffic agencies, particularly in Kaduna, Kano, and Lagos, were all said to be focused on revenue generation, which is against the norms for creating state traffic agencies, according to Nadabo, who cautioned leaders against combining politics with the safety of Nigerians’ lives.
