Two men were detained for damaging and stealing cables from the Adamawa Water Treatment plant in Yola, the state capital, by Adamawa state police command agents stationed at Dougirei Divisional Police Headquarters.
According to a statement made by SP Suleiman Nguroje, spokesman for the state police command, some officers responded to a distress call from the manager of the Boronji Water Treatment plant while on a confidence-building patrol along the plant’s perimeter, behind Government House in Yola.
According to him, two people—Emmanuel Joseph, 17, and Yohanna Sulei, 25, both residents of Boronji Yola North—conspired to vandalize the armored cables that carried light to the treatment plant, which caused the area’s water supply to be shut off.
Investigation thus far has shown that the suspects are working with some recipients who have not yet been apprehended but who stand to gain even more from the services of the water treatment plant. Nguroje remarked.
The suspects will be charged in court as soon as the investigation is over, he added.
