The Taraba State Police Command has officially reported the apprehension of individuals suspected of being involved in armed robberies that have plagued various areas of the state.
The announcement of this significant development was made by the command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abdullahi Usman, through a statement provided to members of the press.
According to Usman, the vigilant operatives from the Kofai Police Station, who are stationed at the Sunkani Division within the jurisdiction of Ardo-Kola Local Government Council, were responsible for the successful capture of these suspects.
The names of the individuals who have been detained in connection with these alleged crimes have been identified as Joseph Desmind, Swaibu Sambu, Danladi Ibrahim, and Douglas John.
While Desmond and John hail from the neighbouring Adamawa, Sambu and Ibrahim are indigenes of Taraba State.
The suspects, according to the statement, have been terrorising and robbing students and communities around the Taraba State University Jalingo.
“The suspects upon arrest have confessed to the crime, and they are giving useful information to the Police that will lead to the arrest of their cohorts now at large,” he said.
The command also debunked the rumour making the rounds that over a hundred persons were on Saturday night kidnapped along Zing Road, and said only two persons were abducted.
