I'll Give It to Football Charity - Davido Vows Not to Refund Ex-NFF Boss, Pinnick

Popular musician Davido has made a firm decision not to reimburse the sum of $94,600 that was paid to him by a group represented by Amaju Pinnick, the former president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The former leader of the NFF had publicly called out Davido for his absence at the 19th edition of the Warri Again Festival held on October 6.

Taking to his Instagram Story on a Sunday, Davido declared his intention to do more than just returning the money; he pledged to double it and donate the entire amount to a football charity organization.

In his post, he referred to Pinnick as “Mr. Dream Crusher” and accused him of being responsible for dashing the dreams of numerous Nigerian footballers due to his alleged greed.

Davido wrote, “If I’m returning any money, I’ll return it to any football charity organisation.

“In fact, I will double it….. Mr Dream Crusher… imagine how many Nigerian footballers have had their dreams crushed because person one lives for Ikoyi by force.”

In another Instagram Story post, Davido clarified that he had notified the event organisers in advance that he wouldn’t be able to attend but they continued promoting the show using his name.

He said, “To my lovely fans in Warri that spent their hard-earned money to come out apologies that you had to experience this. I was not going to be physically able to make it and this had been communicated to ‘them’ for a longgggg while now I mean MONTHS ago but for reasons best known to them, they continued to promote the show using my name. It’s a shame. But especially for my fans out there, don’t worry, you know I gotta bring Timeless to Delta State. We will do it proper, bigger and better!”

Pinnick had also alleged that the organisers booked a private jet for Davido for $18,000 to aid his appearance at the festival.

He also warned that he would teach the singer a lesson, emphasising that Davido should not let his growing fame lead to pride, especially since he is not a bigger artiste than Burna Boy, who has ties to Warri.
