Beware of scammers – Taraba commissioner warns public

The Taraba State Ministry for Youth and Sports Development has advised the people of the state and Nigerians to be wary of unscrupulous elements parading themselves as officials of the ministry.

Some persons were said to have been going around the state defrauding individuals, groups and corporate organisations in the name of soliciting assistance for the ministry.

A statement issued on Thursday in Jalingo, the state capital, by the Commissioner of the ministry, Joseph Joshua, said the warning became necessary to prevent the public from falling into the hands of such persons whom he described as “enemies of progress “.

He said they were also demanding N50,000 to help people into any sports academy of their choice across the country.

Joshua said the scammers were going about tarnishing the state and ministry’s image, labelling them Governor Agbu Kefas’ enemies.

“Anyone who knows whoever is piloting this merchandise of dishonour, to scam and fuel this act of falsehood to tarnish the image of the present administration, should report to me immediately without any delay, and necessary steps will be taken on such person’s or groups of persons,” he said
