The Election Petition Tribunal led by Justice Okon Innem dismissed all the relieves sought by Petitioners in Suit No EPT/CR/GOV 02/2023 and affirmed the election of the Governor , Senator, (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu and his Deputy RT Hon Peter Odey, for the election conducted on the 18th of March, 2023.
Reacting to the judgement, Gov Otu urged, the opposition led by the Governorship candidate, Senator (Prof) Sandy Onoh to sheath the sword and join hands in rebuilding a new Cross River State that all will be proud of.
Otu urged Cross Riverians ” to join hands with my administration so we continue to put in place administrative frame work needed to realise the noble objectives of the People First Mandate.
Otu further called “on Cross Riverians, who as our brothers and sisters are on the other side of opposition to take the ruling of the Court in good faith and jettison any further appeal and join hands with the administration to bring needed dividends of democracy to the people” This is sportsmanship.
” It is expedient for me to stress that if our dear state must be counted amongst the comity of states with bright future and great economic potentials and social security, therefore, all hands must be on deck to make the lofty dream come true”.
Several eminent Cross Riverians and friends who spoke during the week regarding the court judgement also appealed to the gladiators to sheath the sword.. .
We appeal to Senator (Prof) Sandy Onoh and his party that Rebuilding the state should be paramount than filling another suit in furtherance of the matter. It will definitely be another diversionary tactics aimed at stunting the growth of the state.
Sandy, as a statesman, has made his point very loud and clear at the lower tribunal where all shades of legal opinions have been sought and canvassed by the legal team. The Tribunal struck all issues out.
