Workers Protest, Lock Works Minister Umahi In His Office

Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, found himself unable to exit his office at the Federal Ministry of Works due to a protest staged by the staff on Thursday.

The civil servants alleged that Umahi was exhibiting tyrannical behavior, asserting that he had imposed restrictions on employees arriving late to work, denying them access to the ministry.

They also claimed that Umahi, “stopped engineers and directors from doing their work, and has been breaking public service rules since his appointment, by bringing in consultants to run the affairs of the ministry.”

A union representative Williams Kudi was quoted as telling AIT that the minister refused to give them audience to explain their concerns.

President Bola Tinubu, on August 21, inaugurated Umahi and over 40 other ministers.
