Two suspects have been detained by the Special Task Force Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) in connection with the murder of Naaman Stephen Ngophe, a seminarian, in Kaduna State.
The two suspects were paraded alongside 6 others arrested in connection with the murder of one Mrs Dorathy Jonathan, gunrunning, manufacturing, and the killing of a herder at Gora town, all in Kaduna State.
On Friday, September 29, 2023, the Media Information Officer OPSH, Captain Oya James, presented the suspects to the media at the Headquarters of Operation SAFE HAVEN in Jos.
He added that a total of 31 different calibres of weapons were also found.
Naaman Stephen Ngophe, a seminarian, was killed in the attack while Reverend Father Emmanuel Okolo and Noah Monday were saved by the military, according to the statement.
“Two suspects, Hassan Mato and Ahmad Khalifa, were arrested for attacking and burning Saint Raphael Catholic Church at Fadan Kamantan village in Zango Kataf LGA of Kaduna State,” he said.
Two suspects were detained in connection with the horrifying murder of Mrs.
Dorathy Jonathan in the Kaduna State community of Afana, according to police.
Captain James continued by telling the reporters that a wanted gunrunner named Napoleon John had been captured after a week of intelligence operations.
“The arrested suspect led troops to a concealed factory where arms of different caliber were sold by another miscreant, Monday Dunia, who confessed to have been in the business for more than five years fueling the crisis in Kaduna and neighbouring Plateau States,” he stated.
“Following a reprisal attack by locals over the murder of a farmer in Gora town, another two suspects were detained for their involvement in the killing of a herder.
“A total of 31 different caliber weapons, including 3 AK-47 Riffles, 5 fake AK-47 Riffles, 1 pump action rifle, and 10 locally made pistols, were found on the suspects. Others include 8 fabricated revolvers rifles and 3 locally fabricated Sub Machine guns,”.
According to the media information officer, Major General AE Abubakar, who is also the Commander of OPSH and the General Officer Commanding 3 Division NA, is grateful for the unwavering support of every law-abiding citizen in the fight against criminality.
He also promised that the suspects would be tried in court as soon as the investigations were finished.
