Eight stowaways were apprehended in Lagos.

Around two in the morning, the patrol team from the Nigerian Navy ship BEECROFT detained eight stowaways aboard the CHARMINAR PANAMA.m. on  Thursday September 28th .

 

 

According to a statement signed and issued by Sub Lieutenant HA Collins, Base Information Officer Nigerian Navy Ship BEECROFT, Apapa Lagos, the NNS BEECROFT patrol team apprehended and secured the 8 stowaways who were trying to leave the country through a vessel within Lagos anchorage based on actionable intelligence.

John Festus, 30, Kingsley James, 34, Egborjede Christopher, 43, Lucky Iweru, 46, Frank Uche, Omosheri Wilson, 33, Lisa Segun, 37, and Abu Majid, 25, are listed as the stowaways, according to the statement.

 

 

 

 

These stowaways were discovered by the alert NNS BEECROFT patrol team inside the ship’s rudder compartment.

Numerous items, including mobile phones, food, and other random items, were seized during this operation.

The Navy’s commitment to maintaining the security and integrity of the nation’s maritime borders is highlighted by the NNS BEECROFT patrol team’s prompt and effective response.

The statement continued, “The apprehended persons have been delivered to the appropriate authorities, where they are awaiting further necessary actions.”.
