My attention has been drawn to news making the rounds with regards to the Computerized Vehicle Testing Station for Automated Vehicle Road Worthiness Certification at Ubakala,Umuahia said to have been commissioned recently by the Governor of Abia State,Dr Alex Otti who was represented by the Deputy Governor.
In setting the records Straight,I wish to state the fact that the Computerized Vehicle Testing Station at Ubakala, Umuahia,Abia State was approved,built and completed by the Immediate Past Administration of Dr Okezie Ikpeazu under a Public, Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement with an Investor known as Temple SYC Inspection Services Ltd.
The Centre at Ubakala was completed in February 2022 and commercial activities were earlier scheduled to commence on the 8th of March,2022 but was regrettably attacked and vandalized by hoodlums on the 5th of March,2022.It was quickly re-equipped and commenced operations in the same month of March 2022.
It will be recalled that the former Executive Governor,Dr Okezie Ikpeazu on the 5th of March,2021officially commissioned a similar and first ever Computerized Vehicle Inspection Center at ABA,Abia State which has remained operational till date.
Although, I have no desire to weigh into the activities of the present administration of Dr Alex Otti,as the Immediate past Commissioner for Transportation in the State,I feel a compelling need to correct the misrepresentation of facts and misinformation been passed on to the Public through the media by the present administration concerning the Vehicle Inspection Center at Ubakala.
My advice to Dr Alex Otti’s administration is that they should, at least, for once find a reason to dignify the Immediate Past Administration of Dr Okezie Ikpeazu and credit it for a project he started and completed.
