In the state’s Ovia North-East Local Government Area’s Okhun Community, three members of the Edo State Security Network have been murdered by unidentified gunmen.
It was learned that on Thursday night, September 21, 2023, a group of hoodlums numbering over 10 broke into the neighborhood and shot the victims who were on duty.
Eyewitnesses reported conflict over community leadership in some cases, while others believed the attack to be a cult’s retaliation.
A member of the Emergency Social Safety Net who only went by the name “commander Small Baba” confirmed the incident and added that he had suffered injuries to his right hand.
He stated, “Today (Thursday night), we received information that some hoodlums were shooting sporadically in Okhun Community.
Upon learning of the situation, we acted without delay.
However, the thugs attacked us.
Three of my men were killed as a result.
The thugs shot me as well, but I was able to get away.
