The International Organization for Migration (IOM), in partnership with the Federal Government, successfully repatriated 155 Nigerian irregular migrants who had found themselves stranded in various parts of Libya.
This significant effort was announced by the IOM in a statement released on a Wednesday in Lagos.
The returning migrants arrived at the Cargo Wing of Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos, arriving late on Tuesday evening aboard an Al Buraq Air Boeing 737-800 with the registration number 5A-DMG.
Among the returnees, there were 125 females, 22 males, and eight infants.
In coordination with this operation, key authorities including the National Emergency Management Agency, Port Health Service, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons, as well as the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, were present at the airport to receive and assist the returnees.
