"Justice For Mohbad" Protest Hits Abeokuta, Delta (Photos, Video)

On a Tuesday morning, a group of young individuals congregated in the Panseke area of Abeokuta, Ogun State. Their purpose was clear: to demand justice for the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, known to the world as Mohbad.

These young people, in significant numbers, gathered at the skating ground arena in Abeokuta, all dressed in somber black attire. Each participant held a placard, bearing powerful inscriptions such as #JusticeforMohbad and #WhoOffLight, among others.

In a similar display of support, fans of Mohbad from Delta State also made their voices heard. They took to Effurun Road, brandishing placards, and echoing the call for justice in memory of the late singer.

These peaceful rallies are coming days after a protest was launched in Ikorodu, Lagos, in seeking justice for Mohbad.

Mohbad died last Tuesday and was buried on Wednesday in Ikorodu, and his death has attracted concerns, as some accused the owner of Marlian Records and singer, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley.

Renowned artistes have taken to social media to join in demanding justice for the late music sensation.

The Lagos State Police Command has vowed to probe his death, and it inaugurated a special investigation team on Monday.

Manwhile, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has directed the state Police Command, in partnership with the Department of State Service (DSS) to launch a major investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death with the aim of ensuring justice.

Sanwo-Olu’s directive was announced on Tuesday, in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.

Sanwo-Olu, however, sympathized with the bereaved family, friends, fans and residents over the unfortunate demise of the rising music star, whose death has been shrouded in mystery.

The statement reads: “The Lagos State Government has noted the developments that have followed the death of music star Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (aka MohBad).

“The Government commiserates with his family and fans. We feel the pains of losing such a talented and promising young man, who made a name for himself in a highly competitive industry.

“May The Almighty grant his soul rest and comfort his bereaved family and fans.

“Following, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s directive, the Police in Lagos State have launched a major investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of the young star.

“A 19-man police panel has been asked to unravel the mystery of the musician’s death.”
