Abia North Senatorial Election: Bourdex Set To Contest In 2027 Under LP

Abiriba-born businessman, Chief David Onuoha Ogba, popularly known as Bourdex, is set to contest for Abia North Senatorial seat in 2027.

Ogba, who contested for the position in the 2015 general election under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), is expected to run under the platform of the Labour Party (LP) in 2027.

“He is expected to battle for the party’s ticket against his kinsman, Nnamdi Iro Orji (Opotoyom), who was the candidate of the party in 2023.

“He made his intention known to some of his associates over the weekend, during the burial of Chief Jackson Agbai’s son in Abiriba. It is difficult to say if Governor Alex Otti would support ahead of Opotoyom in 2027, ” a reliable source said.

Another source at the meeting told our correspondent that Bourdex’s major challenge would be the outstanding performance of the incumbent lawmaker representing the Senatorial District, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

“Sincerely, you saw how Senator Orji Uzor Kalu was reelected despite the massive wave of the obidients in Abia North. Therefore, his major challenge would be Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who has performed very well even in Abiriba. Opotoyom won’t be a challenge or an issue to Bourdex. Bourdex worked for the party in 2023, therefore, Opotoyom should be able to work for him.”

Our correspondent could not reach Ogba for comments.
