Two Nigerians were detained in the Philippines following a drug buy-bust operation.

In a buy-bust operation at a mall in Imus City, Cavite, in the Philippines, government anti-narcotics agents detained two Nigerian citizens and seized heroin estimated to be worth at least P62 million.

Enuka John Chukwuemeka and Christopher Nwabufo, both citizens of Las Pias City’s Golden Acres Village, have been named as the suspects by Police Region 4A.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The suspects allegedly sold 40 grams of heroin worth P240,000 to a bogus buyer at the main entrance of a shopping center in Barangay (village) Tanzang Luma 5 at around 4:05 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, according to the police.

Law enforcement officials reportedly discovered 15 grams of marijuana with an estimated value of P1,800 and another kilo of heroin worth P6,000,000 in the suspects’ possession during a routine frisking after their arrest.

 

 

Authorities are looking into where the illicit drugs are coming from.

 

 

Two mobile phones were also taken from the suspects by the agents, and these phones will undergo digital forensic investigations to look for records of drug transactions.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chukwuemeka and Nwabufo are accused of violating Section 5 of Republic Act (RA) 9165, also known as “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002,” in relation to Section 26 paragraph B (Attempt or Conspiracy to Sell Dangerous Drugs), and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II.
