At Bauchi during cult initiation, four students were detained by police.

During an initiation ceremony held in front of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Gubi Campus, the Bauchi State Police Command detained four alleged members of a cult.

 

 

On Friday, September 8, 2023, SP Mohammed Wakil, the command’s spokesperson, said that efforts are being made to apprehend the eluding accomplices.

 

 

 

 

“On 03/09/2023 at about 1700hrs operatives of the Command acted on credible Intelligence and arrested four suspected cult members namely; Eric Nuhu ‘m’ aged 23yrs a 500-level student of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi, Zaharaddeen Hassan ‘m’ aged 19yrs old an ND one (1) student of Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, Felix John ‘m’ aged 24yrs of HND one (1) student of Federal Polytechnic Bauchi and Daniel Masaka of Karu LGA of Nassarawa State,” the statement read.

 

 

 

 

“During questioning, the first and second suspects confessed to having been invited by one of their classmates named Abbas Apeh “m,” a 500-level student at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi, and were initiated into the cult on February 9, 2023, at around midnight, while the third and fourth suspects confessed to having been members of the cult group known as Black axe for a long time and to have been invited by their group.

 

 

 

“Efforts are in high gear to apprehend the evading accomplices; following their capture, the suspects will be charged in court and subject to the appropriate prosecution of the established offenses.
