In Lagos, a man fatally stabs his friend to death over unpaid food.

Akinola Adeleye, who was detained by the police in Lagos state, is accused of fatally stabbing his friend John during a dispute over the cost of a meal he had consumed on Idiagbon Street in the Ifako-Ijaiye neighborhood of the state.

Igberetv report that the victim, who was sharing a squat with the suspect, had joined the suspect for lunch at a canteen.

Over who would pay for the meal Akinola consumed, a disagreement developed.

A fight broke out after the argument, during which the suspect is accused of fatally stabbing the victim.

The unfortunate incident was described by a local man named Ugochukwu, who is from the area.

Akinola went to their regular buka to eat a plate of food, but instead of paying, he asked them to add his bill to the account of his friend who wasn’t present at the time.

As a result, when the victim went to the nearby restaurant to eat, they told him that he owed them for the food his friend had consumed. He was shocked and incensed that his friend would request payment from them without even informing him.

In order to confront his friend about the debt that had been passed down to him, he hastily finished his meal and returned home. That is how their argument began.

Akinola demanded John to leave his house right away while they were fighting over the issue, but John refused, and the argument got worse.

Akinola walked away from the altercation, returned with a knife, and stabbed John before anyone realized what had happened.

Akinola left, and we thought the fight was over, only to see him charge at John with the knife.

Before we could do anything, blood was pouring out of John’s body as he lay on the ground.

Confusion spread everywhere, scattering everything.

“.

The resident also mentioned that John had defecated on himself before passing away immediately, which further added to the confusion and mourning in the neighborhood.

In the midst of the chaos, Akinola attempted to flee the scene, but was apprehended by some nearby young men, according to Ugochukwu.

Another local, known only as Dada, claimed to have witnessed the deceased man’s body being rolled past his store and to the intersection of the streets on the day of the incident. He claimed that based on information he received from the neighbors, the body was wheeled out after police officers who were contacted declined to enter the street due to the area’s volatile nature.

“They requested the police to respond to the call and come to the scene, but the officers declined, claiming that the area was too dangerous and that they should bring the deceased man and the suspect to the intersection instead.

To the intersection, they wheelbarrowed the body. The neighborhood boys then gave the suspect to the police.

The State Criminal Investigations Department has already been contacted about the incident, according to the state police command’s spokesperson, who also confirmed that charges would be filed against the suspect.
