Troops of the Rapid d’intervention Battalions (BIR) have launched airstrike at Ine mba forest in Idabato subdivision of Bakassi Peninsula targeting militants of the Black Marine, a separatist group purportedly loyal to the Biafra Nations League, BnL.
The attack was carried out by 7am on Friday.
Recall that the town was among the areas under Cameroon, the militant group confronted the troops during their operation in the Gulf of Guinea which resulted to battle between them and Joint Border Forces of Nigeria and Cameroon.
Eye witness confirmed that about two helicopters were hovering round the forest dropping explosives at the area, destroying the militant camps.
Henry Edet, Operational coordinator of BnL said he was not sure if anybody was killed, he confirmed that Black Marine camp has been destroyed by the airstrike.
Authorities in Cameroon wants oil firms that have been forced to shutdown to resume drilling.
