Police Bolster Deployment for Peter Obi and Atiku's Court Verdict

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced an intensified deployment strategy nationwide in anticipation of the forthcoming judgment from the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal scheduled for Wednesday.

This tribunal is poised to make significant decisions regarding petitions challenging the electoral triumph of President Bola Tinubu, put forth by the Labour Party (LP) and their presidential nominee, Peter Obi, following the February 25 election. Additionally, it will address petitions submitted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and their presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, among others.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) insists that Tinubu won the election and that claims made by the petitioners were not concrete enough to change the outcome of the election.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Force spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi said that ahead of the court’s ruling “the police have strengthened deployment across the length and breadth of Nigeria.”

He added, “The Nigeria Police Force further cautions all individuals including mischief makers and political gladiators to be cautious in their actions and statements as the Force will not condone activities capable of inciting violence or causing a descent into anarchy.”

Adejobi also warned against cyber-stalking, cyber-bullying, misinformation and false news, noting that the police would not tolerate any.
