Rot in education sector responsible for youth restiveness, crimes – Gov Kefas

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has attributed youth restiveness and crime to the decay in the education sector.

He stated this on Tuesday in an expanded meeting with the heads of tertiary institutions spread across the state in Jalingo, the state capital.

He vowed to earmark funds from loans obtained by his administration for education, assuring them that funding will no longer be a problem.

The governor also approved the payment of outstanding salaries of staff of the state university.

Reassuring the school heads that he would be regularly available to attend to their needs, he promised that the meeting with school heads would be on a sustained basis.

He also revealed that the loan recently collected by his administration will be directly tied to the projects for transparency and accountability.

Kefas, who noted that the meeting has become critical as schools are about to reopen, stressed that the tertiary institution heads need to support and buy into making the free education policy feasible.

The heads of schools promised to cooperate with him in his resolve to provide affordable education for the people of the state.

In attendance were the Vice Chancellor of the state university, Rector of the College of Education, Zing, College of Agriculture, College of Nursing and Midwifery and College of Health and Technology, Takum
