JUST IN: Date for PEPT Final Judgement Released

Baring last minutes change of plan, the 2023 Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) will on Saturday, September 16 deliver it’s final judgement on the controversial February 25, 2023 Presidential Election results, IgbereTV has learned.

An impeccable source in the appeal court Abuja said the Tribunal has resolved to deliver it’s final ruling on the said date.

The Tribunal, according to the Constitution, has up till September 16, 2023 ( which is a Maximum of 180 days of filing of Petitions) to deliver judgment on the petitions challenging the electoral victory of President Bola Tinubu who was the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 25 elections.

It would be recalled that after adopting the final written addresses of the parties involved in the suit, the five-man tribunal headed by Justice Haruna Simon Tsamani reserved judgment and said a date to deliver the verdict would be communicated to concerned parties and their lawyers.

The aforementioned date is the final day available for the tribunal to deliver its judgment on the three petitions instituted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party (LP), and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) together with their presidential candidates, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Mr. Peter Obi, and Princess Chichi Ojei respectively.

The defendants in the cases are Tinubu, the APC, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). However, the tribunal is yet to make an official statement on the date to deliver its ruling.
